Vixa and her Network Defenders colleagues Win a major fight against Bot Herders Cartels. Please Cast your Vote: "The Realm Citizens Join The Fight" CISCO Security Comic Script by Virginia Benedict
New York, NY - Nov. 2009 - Vixa’s intuitive adaptive and light speed response powers were instrumental in bringing down and capturing two major Cyber Cartels.
While three ruthless, competing Cartels were engaged in War Lords activities for dominance and control over several primary domain controllers around planet Earth, Vixa, Wall, Jux, and Trace gained advantage and managed to trace and capture two of the three cartels. The Realm Citizens got on board the fight against Bot Herders and Cyber Criminals.
The 10 Finalists are in! Vote for VIXA's powers.

I will probably keep up this wiki property as it is easy and we have complete control over it. Our membership on this continues to grow which is awesome cool but we don't do much with you guys here.... I have much more official Cisco resources available on our new official blog that I hope you will follow (and comment!) on: http://blogs.cisco.com/ciscotalk/cin I can see when you guys click but what we really cherish are the comments and opinions. Let me know what you think - either here or on the blog!
Thanks for your continued support!

CUCM - ASA Secure Voice

I have been struggling here lately on the topic of how to properly Secure my Voice Network. I heard the PodCast on the ASA implementation and have read that is the way to go. However the how is always left out.... I think a segment on this would be great.
Can you explain in more detail how the ASA 5500 is implemented in the CUCM World. Voice Security is starting to be a reoccurring theme, but I am not finding much information pertaining to the Cisco Recommended Procedures or How tos (if you will.)
For Example:What type of ASA is required for what level? When I have a HQ of 2000 Phones and remote sites also with 1000....what should be used at the locations? Is there a Matrix of some sort?
How is it implemented (obviously at the network level) but how is the CUCM connected..... via IPSEC with the ASA?
Is there an SRND for a ASA Voice environment?
Obviously due to the TLS Proxy the ASA is very attractive, but what are the ups and downs compared to GetVPN?
For many people dealing with Firewalls and ASA's on a daily basis these questions might seem a little basic, but for people coming from the "Voice" Unified Communications Area there are a lot of things left unsaid. Unfortunately, when installing a CUCM Cluster and the Customer wants a Secure Voice Network.... they do not understand that this is more network security than voice, and it is up to us to magically come up with the answer.
This topic of Voice Security is becoming the number 1 issue with large companies today and the only official statement that I find states that we should use the ASA's. Great.... but how?
Thanks

Hi,
is there any new information about a CUCM Secure Segment?
I have another couple of points that could be added.... (It all seems like a Grey Topic right now, where no one really wants to create an official solution/SRND and ect)
-The use of an External CA instead of the Internal CAPF. -How to migrate from the Internal CAPF to an External CA -What is Cisco's Recommended solution to CUCM-Gateway Security (IPSEC or ASA or ? ) -When will the user ID and Pin submition for Extension Mobility be secured (right now everything is broadcasted in Plain Text) or what the plans are.

I think that the ASA- Voice Security Integration needs to be covered. It is a gap that not many people know about and should. If any Cisco techs out there are reading this..... a design guide would be great too.

There is an install method in the CS-MARS manual for config'ing CS-MARS with MS-SQL. You will still need to go thru and add the corrolation piece so that the entries are understood.
