Managed IP Telephony partners and XML productivity widgets are a couple of Voice topics to consider.

Like who is "top of mind" when it comes to getting partners to manage large CM environments?

And what are the best XML solutions being integrated into CM to empower Cisco desktop/handset users?

Sure - I meant having 2 or 3 partner viewpoints expressed much the way you guys did at Cisco Networkers. Of course in that case you interviewed a partner on the show floor - but now it would be via Cisco TelePresence - neat way to showcase that technology, too huh?

So these partners would be in a virtual panel - you could give them the topics in advance and ask them not to hype their service but to share the most common functions of Call Manager that they manage + what kind of interactions that they think the client should watch on the WAN traffic as loads shift for Voice applications, video, storage, etc. This Voice thing puts a significant load on networks and having good Class of Service profiling is key in WAN networked environments.

SInce partners see hundreds of environments each day, they might have perspectives that the overall audience could appreciate hearing.

On XML - a similar idea of a panel but with developers who shape apps and/or widgets to enable desktop workers to interact with legacy databases or server-based applications. In enterprises today the TCO for Voice can include reduced reliance on PCs for routine actions. Like in warehouses, or retail POS, or even Medical. The Cisco desktop phone can be more than a Voice terminal as we know but new adoption starts with better understanding of the potential for more effective use of assets. Fewer PCs or specialized terminals could be a goal - but I believe workers can work faster if they did not have to switch between terminals to accomplish routine actions.

Like an IPCC appplication where calls get logged as to type and resolution codes - or even simple sales fulfillment for repeat ordering functions.

I prolly went too long - but if it resonates - then maybe try the idea out on some Cisco sales people to see if they are getting traction in these areas.

might also be able to leverage knowledge/best practices on application deployment or integration from the UC practice managers in our services organization...if anything, test as a podcast before developing into a full TWTV episode Do you find this valuable?
