New Video Podcasts
Sep 28 2008, 4:44 PM EDT
Just watched the 2 new video podcasts - Loop Guard with JRP, and Marlowe Fenne's UC talk. I like it - I like it a lot. Due to the package sizing with iTunes the segments must be shorter than audio only - but video really helps with hints like JRP's piece. There is a greater challenge when trying to express broad strategies like Marlow tackled. The video was there - but IMHO it didn't necessarily add value. I really think this is a good thing to do in a series or installment fashion. So perhaps a UC series would intro the 6.0 neat stuff like MArlow did, and then have 5 or 6 segments released with it that had the nuts/bolts stuff JPR could show (like he did with Loop Guard. Just opening the topic for comments - I'm sure others bring different perspectives. I like the big message stuff peppered with enough optional detail that I could drive an associate to review or even a client. So multi-segment video podcasts seem like a good fit where users could elect to download only the segments they wanted/needed. Do you find this valuable?

Thanks for the comment! We are experimenting with pushing video on this channel. We have lots of video assets but have had trouble making it work for podcasts...you are seeing tests so far and some material was grabbed more because it was short than because of the content. Marlow has been a huge help to our show over the years...we don't work with him as much anymore but that video showed back to how much content he kept feeding us in year 1. Check out the rogue video podcast channel at http://techwisetv.blip.tv/#1283388. Bunch of different videos here that do push to a different podcast channel - just search for 'techwisetv' within iTunes or get them straight from Blip. Thanks again! Robb Do you find this valuable? |

You should be able to find a podcasts link on the Cisco page...or you could just go right to iTunes and search on Cisco Interaction Network and/or TechWiseTV..you will find two...the main one under CIN and the experimental one (with more video). Hope that helps!

"...or you could just go right to iTunes and search on Cisco Interaction Network and/or TechWiseTV.."I really do recommend that method. Especially if you are a big audio/video iPod/iPhone user. iTunes subscriptions allow proper categorization of podcasts with a mouse click once. If you add them from other websites they show up in your music library. They will sound/look the same, but with the new 2.0 software you won't be able to track the ones already heard/viewed vs all the rest. Podcasts are tracked better from iTunes while music is listened to repeatedly. ---Not that the sage words of JRP should be heard only once... ;-) BTW - thanks for the free $10 iTunes card Robb + team / shameless plug for those not aware of the gifts vailable via podcasts.
