With this post I am hoping to start a discussion on the many culprits of data-leak. That is data leak through Social Engineering, through logical environments, and/or through physical trespassing.Any and all topics releated to data loss, data leak, information assurance, social engineering tactics are welcome in this thread. "Expand your thoughts a bit here? Take one of your three and advance a position perhaps that we an debate?"Security and cost are some of the main attractions driving the enterprise incentives to deploy Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), for example. However, there exist many controversies centered on the design and deployment of VLANs in the Data Center, the Metro and the Campus of distributed networks. It can be easily demonstrated that despite the claims that the technology developers make about the inherent advantages of a Virtual Infrastructure, there are serious vulnerabilities not just in the implementation methodologies; but also in the architecture of the technology itself. Network infrastructures are highly complex beasts by default; layering another set of complexities adds almost insurmountable architectural, design, and deployment challenges to the securing of data and a company’s intellectual property. These challenges and vulnerabilities provide the perfect vehicles for black-hatters and competitors to perpetrate and breach the security of networks; creating economies of scales for the organized criminal. For starters, Data- Leak, whether through inherent technological flaws (e.g., memory leak), human error, and/or criminal activities is an isidious beast at best. Do you find this valuable? |
